MANITOUWADGE, ON – Throughout the past week, the students at OLOL took time out of their regular classes to discuss political parties, politicians and issues involved in this election.  The students learned the importance of taking an active part in democracy.  On Friday, April 29th, the grade 4-8 classes participated and each student exercised their right to vote.

Mrs. Gillman’s grade 5 students and their substitute teacher, Mr. Budgell set-up an authentic polling station.  The students assumed the rolls of Deputy Returning Officer, Poll Clerks and Scrutineers.  This was a part of the Student Vote 2011 Campaign taking place across Canada.
