Joint Operational Review Update of Northshore Hospitals
A draft report of the joint operational review of the Manitouwadge, McCausland and Wilson Memorial hospitals has been presented to the Joint Operational Review Steering Committee.
The review, which is being funded by the North West Local Health Integration Network (LHIN), is examining the hospitals’ operations, looking for ways to improve the quality of care for residents and patients in these communities.
Prepared by Prism Partners Inc., the draft report was submitted to the committee earlier this month.
It examines and makes recommendations in the areas of governance, service utilization and financial management at the hospitals.
Some of the preliminary findings include:
- There are no significant clinical recommendations
- There is a recognition of the high quality of service provided at each of the sites under review
- A number of small financial improvements and efficiencies are recommended
- Opportunities for better coordination between hospitals have been identified
It’s expected a final report will go to the hospital boards in early May. The three hospitals will then present their report, with joint recommendations, to the North West LHIN sometime this summer.
QUICK FACTS:
- The joint operational review began last November.
- $200,000 in funding for the review was provided by the North West LHIN.
- Prism Partners Inc. has extensive experience performing operational reviews of hospitals.
- All three hospitals welcomed the review, calling it a collaborative process aimed at delivering system-level outcomes that will ultimately benefit residents and patients.
