Wildlife in Manitouwadge could pose a threat to residents
PUBLIC NOTICE
Please Be Advised On The Feeding of Foxes and Other Wildlife In Manitouwadge
The Township of Manitouwadge continues in their efforts to remind residents to PLEASE NOT FEED or put scraps of any type of food out for wildlife including fox, feral or stray cats, ravens, coyotes or wolves.
Keep bird feeders tidy and from overflowing, as coyotes are fond of fruit, nuts and seeds.
The Municipal Law Enforcement Office (MLEO) has received reports of an increased presence of fox in town, especially in the Flicker, Partridge, Falcon and Warbler Street areas. The MLEO has received confirmed coyote sightings in the daytime at properties in the Partridge and Flicker areas. Concerned citizens have also called to report seeing individuals feeding fox in these areas and other areas in town.
Feeding fox/wildlife can cause these animals to rely on humans for food, encourage the presence of wildlife activity in our community and cause fox/other wildlife to become a nuisance and safety concern to residents and their pets, which is occurring.
As part of our efforts to decrease the presence and nuisance of fox/other wildlife in our Townsite, the Municipal Law Enforcement Office is asking for your co-operation to
PLEASE refrain from the feeding of fox and other wildlife. It may be exciting to take photos of the foxes while feeding them on your property however, these foxes may have to be trapped because they have become a nuisance or safety concern.
