Green Education Advancing in Terrace Bay
TERRACE BAY, ON -The Township of Terrace Bay, has created a contract position, with funding from EcoSuperior Environmental Programs, to increase education in the community on green issues and develop and grow green initiatives by the Township.
Terrace Bay resident Allison Dennis has been chosen as the Green Education Coordinator. Dennis’ has experience teaching and conducting research of this type gained through the Master’s degree she earned at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Some of the projects Dennis will be working on include:
- 2011 Green Tradeshow,
- two hazardous waste recycling days being organized by the Municipality,
- Lake Superior Day,
- Jackfish Bay Area of Concern Committee,
- researching the design of a household recycling program
- creating green education materials for residents and businesses.
Dennis is now working from the township office in her new role as Green Education Coordinator, she is enthusiastic about continuing the development and promotion of the many green initiatives that Terrace Bay has underway and looks forward to hearing from residents, groups and businesses in regards to green ideas they have.
