Teachers’ Learning, Leadership, Technology and Innovation at Holy Angels
SCHREIBER, ON – Holy Angels Catholic School, Superior North Catholic District School Board, will be the 2011-2012 site of exciting and innovative education experiences. As a result of Ministry of Education-Teacher Learning and Leadership Program funding granted to Holy Angel’s teachers Cara Petrone and Kim Figliomeni, students in all grades will use Apple iPad2 devices to explore curriculum concepts in new ways and apply the outcomes in all aspects of their learning and assignments.
The Apple iPad2 devices will be a welcome addition to the extensively used Apple MacBooks, and Apple iPod devices, further enhancing the school’s technology innovations already implemented.
Ms. Petrone, Apple Distinguished Educator, and Ms. Figliomeni, the school’s Special Education Resource Teacher, submitted their proposal to the Board’s senior executive team, Ms. T. Visintin, School Principal, Ms. V. Pichette, Director of Education, Ms. M.A. Baker, Superintendent of Education, and Ms. J. Brenzavich, Assistant to the Director, in October 2010. Once it was approved at the Board level, it was forwarded to the Ministry of Education TLLC, which granted approval this Tuesday, March 1, 2011.
Ms. Petrone and Ms. Figliomeni will be providing ongoing information sessions for parents and colleagues throughout the project.
