McGuinty Government Invests In Ontario’s Economic Future

This year, Ontario’s Summer Jobs Service will help create about 4,200 summer jobs for students in the North; helping provide opportunities for students to turn their passion into a summer job and gain important work experience.

The Summer Jobs Service provides a $2-per-hour incentive to encourage employers to hire students. This is one of several Ontario Summer Jobs Programs that connect students to jobs in the private sector or government and offer support to help young entrepreneurs launch their own summer business.

Students aged 15 to 30 who are planning to return to school in the fall are eligible. The summer jobs program is part of the Open Ontario plan to help every student succeed for the future.

QUICK FACTS

  • Last summer, the government helped more than 127,000 Ontario students find jobs.
  • Employers in Northern Ontario have until April 30 to apply for the subsidy.
