NIPIGON, ON – March 17, 2011 at approximately 8:45 a.m. Nipigon Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 17, Wiggins Township, just east of Gravel River. A Nipigon officer observed a west bound Ford Taurus travelling at a high rate of speed. Investigation revealed that the motor vehicle was recently reported stolen from the City of Thunder Bay.
The 41 year old male driver, Richard LAFORGE of Peterborough, Ontario was arrested for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000 and Breach of Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code. LAFORGE remains in custody and is scheduled for a bail hearing today, March 18, 2011 to answer to these charges.
