Life at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School
MANITOUWADGE, ON – The grade 5/6 students in Mrs. Gillman’s class took the Egyptian unit to heart and mummified some “pharaohs” (Barbie dolls and action figures – even a walking doll). They started with gauze and plaster bandages to envelop the bodies, placing amulets between layers for good luck. They finished the “pharaohs” by painting them gold. They added hieroglyphs and other Egyptian symbols with coloured markers to complete the preparation of the “pharaohs” for burial.
Be careful… there are “professional mummifiers“ looking for small dolls to be mummified in our community. Great job grade 5/6 students!
