OPP Province-Wide Community Satisfaction Survey
SECOND PROVINCE-WIDE COMMUNITY SATISFACTION SURVEY HELPS OPP ASSESS SERVICE TO ONTARIANS
ORILLIA, ON – The second province-wide Community Satisfaction Survey will be underway soon to solicit public opinions about the services the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) delivers to communities throughout the province.
“I know Ontarians are very busy, but we hope the people who are contacted will take the time to answer the survey questions. I promise that the OPP will use the information wisely to improve OPP service,” says OPP Commissioner Chris Lewis.
The Community Satisfaction Survey is a telephone survey that randomly selects members of the public (16 years or older) who live in Ontario. The survey takes about five to seven minutes to complete and is strictly voluntary. Those contacted and willing to participate are asked about issues such as community security, perceptions of crime and youth issues in the community, OPP presence in the community, its service delivery and even how the OPP investigates crime and enforces the law.
The information provided by those surveyed is being collected by a research consultant, R.A. Malatest & Associates Ltd. that has been retained by the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services. The information is treated confidentially and the names, telephone numbers, and addresses of those surveyed will not be included in the survey results provided to the OPP.
The OPP has previously conducted detachment-level surveys in various communities policed by the OPP, however this is just the second provincial survey aimed at citizen satisfaction among all Ontarians, even those living within communities where the OPP is not the police service of jurisdiction.
Once completed, the results will be used in the OPP’s Business Plans and Annual Reports (http://www.opp.ca/ecms/files/250258838.6.pdf). The information will be useful in helping the OPP set out goals and objectives to improve on the diverse services it delivers to communities throughout Ontario.
The survey will commence sometime shortly after February 1, 2011, and is expected to be completed by the middle of March. The OPP would like to thank those who participate in the survey to help the OPP in its vision of: Safe Communities…..A Secure Ontario.
