These signs should provide a painful reminder of the tragic results of drinking and driving - please do not let the pain these signs must bring for those who loved these children be in vain!

From the Editor: It seems perhaps the 2 billboards in our community (pictured above) are becoming too familiar and easy for people to ignore. The beautiful teens pictured on those billboards are not models, the billboards are not just a anti-drinking & driving campaign, they are a memorial, the images of 3 young lives that were ENDED because of a drunk driver. STEVEN PHILIPPE’s family continues grieving (as do his friends and all those whose lives he touched in Manitouwadge and Sudbury) as do the families of his friends. Caitlin Jelley and Jazmine Houle. The three were killed, struck down by a drunk driver while walking on the side of Municipal Road 80 in Hanmer (Sudbury) July 21st, 2009.

The families of these children were brave enough to have their faces used on the billboards in the hopes that other young lives might be saved – let’s not let the pain the must feel every time they visit and see these billboards (or everytime they travel in their own community and see them as there are more than a dozen  more of these billboards in the City of Greater Sudbury) be in vain – DRINKING AND DRIVING = LOOSING it’s not just a message on a billboard, it’s the reality Steven Philippe’s Mother, Father, Brother and Sister live with each day and the reality too many other families live with as well – LET’s NOT LET THIS TRAGEDY re-occur in Manitouwadge!

CALL A CAB, WALK, CALL A FRIEND, or STAY THE NIGHT – but DON”t GET BEHIND THE WHEEL IF YOU’ve BEEN DRINKING! (any amount of alcohol!)
