Manitouwadge Recreation Centre re-opens
MANITOUWADGE, ON – Concerns this week in regards to possible air quality issues in the lower level of the Manitouwadge Recreation Centre have been laid to rest. After the Recreation Centre was closed to the public for approximately 26 hours, it reopened yesterday (Jan.20) evening at 6pm.
Public Works Superintendant Omer Collins assured OntarioNewsNorth.com that though regular Township Health & Safety maintenance had raised possible concerns, Thunder Bay company, DST Consulting Engineers were called in for air quality testing, confirming that there were no problems. “We’re not air quality specialists, so practicing due diligence, we called the professionals” said Collins adding that “Our priority is always to ensure the public is safe when using the facilities at the recreation centre”.
Manitouwadge Recreation Centre is getting plenty of attention these days, recently EDO Dave Raymond was asked to provide details in regards to the facility to representatives of CBC’s Kraft Hockeyville which residents are hoping could bring $100,000 worth of upgrades to the arena located at the centre of town.
