THUNDER BAY, ON — Dr. Michael B. Wilson, Regional Supervising Coroner for North Region, Thunder Bay Office, today announced that the inquest into the death of Bruce Moonias previously scheduled to begin on January 17, 2011, has been postponed.
Mr. Moonias, age 27, died on December 11, 2006, at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre following his involvement with the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Moonias’ death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.
