HERON BAY, ON – Visit Pukaskwa National Park on Thursday, January 20th to snowshoe, hike, or cross-country ski on set tracks. Let the full moon be your guide as you explore winter wonders along the two kilometre trail. The Visitor Centre at the end of the trail will be open between 7 pm and 8:30 pm to provide hot chocolate and a place to warm up. Snowshoes can be borrowed from the park administration building between 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm. Parking is at the winter gate.

If you’re looking for something to do with the kids on Friday, January 21, come out to Pukaskwa for fun winter activities at the Visitor Centre. The administration building will be lending snowshoes between 10 am and 4 pm, and a fire-building activity will take place at the Visitor Centre at 11 am – bring your hot dogs, soup and hot chocolate and cook them over an open fire!

Park fees apply on both days. For more information, please call Pukaskwa National Park at (807) 229-0801.

In 2011, Parks Canada will be celebrating its 100 birthday and its establishment in 1911 as the world’s first national parks service. To recognize this occasion, Parks Canada is inviting Canadians to come celebrate at its places across the country. Pukaskwa National Park, one of 42 national parks in Canada, affords visitors an opportunity to explore and experience “the wild shore of an inland sea”. On behalf of all Canadians, Parks Canada is proud to both protect and present nationally significant examples of Canada’s natural and cultural heritage to this and future generations.
