Manitouwadge Extreme Dollars have several features to prevent any counterfeit bills being produced.
MANITOUWADGE, ON – The Extreme Dollar, a buy local campaign sponsored by the Manitouwadge Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), has been receiving a great response.
The MEDC had, when releasing the dollars this December, hoped to have $10,000 circulating by the new year, this goal has been overwhelmingly surpassed with 20,000 Extreme Dollars currently in circulation. Manitouwadge Economic Development Officer Dave Raymond was thrilled with the response to date and felt December’s incentive, where those purchasing the Extreme Dollars received a 10% bonus (for Every $10 purchased the buyer would receive $11) added to the appeal of the money which is redeemable at many Manitouwadge businesses (including OntarioNewsNorth.com).
Residents are enjoying the novelty of having their own currency, “It’s as good as cash in Manitouwadge” said one downtown shopper of the colourful bills.
