SNOWMOBILE COLLISION, OPERATOR INJURED

 HORNEPAYNE, ON – On December 3, 2010 at 12:15 am Superior East OPP in Hornepayne were dispatched to a single snowmobile collision on Murphy Lane in Hornepayne.  Investigation revealed that the lone male driver had lost control and was subsequently thrown from the machine.  He was taken to Hornepayne Hospital by ambulance with none life threatening injuries.  There was extensive damage to the Yamaha Snowmobile.  As a result of this incident, the operator Shane MITCHELL age 32 of Hornepayne, Ontario stands charged with “Drive While Disqualified” contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.  He will appear in Hornepayne Criminal Court at a later date to answer to the charge.  This incident remains under investigation.

FESTIVE R.I.D.E.

SUPERIOR EAST – Several Festive R.I.D.E. checks were conducted throughout the Superior East OPP patrol area resulting in a number of Highway Traffic Act warnings and charges.  There were no Drinking and Driving infractions noted.
