Pioneers, Gingerbread and Technology at OLOL

LIFE AT OUR LADY OF LOURDES CATHOLIC SCHOOL

Hands-on learning

Students with their jars of butter - delicious!

Mme Foucault’s grade 2 &3 French Immersion students have been learning about the Pioneers and their life style.  They are now able to describe the components of a pioneer village or settlement, and how the Pioneers maximized the use of the natural resources from their environment.  The class celebrated and furthered their learning by sharing a pioneer snack. They made fresh butter to eat with their dinner rolls, and enjoyed the treat with some home-made jam and apple cider.  Their next feast will involve drying some fruit and making soup.

Gingerbread ShopThe grade 7 & 8 students from Our Lady of Lourdes School, hosted the Gingerbread Shop.  Children had an opportunity to pick out their own gifts for family and friends, during school hours.  Students learned how to budget their money and spend wisely as they shopped for Christmas gifts.  The gift shop was run by volunteers and grade 7 & 8 students, as a fundraiser for the grade 7 & 8 trip to Toronto in the spring.

Technology at OLOL
