Tim Skinner a founding member of FOG (Friendly Old Guys), a local jamming band, volunteered the talents of his band to provide the entertainment for the evening. Admission to the concert was a donation to the Christmas food hampers. Students greeted the guests adorned in Christmas hats and also sold refreshments during the concert.
Approximately 120 people big and small, young and old enjoyed the entertainment all while helping out a worthy cause. Along with food collected at the school from staff and students and the concert proceeds, several boxes of food was collected as well as a cash donation of 192.00 was presented to Dick and Elaine Mannisto co-chairs of the Longlac Christmas Hamper Committee. The generous contribution of the school and the community will help ensure that everyone in our community will enjoy a very Merry Christmas.
Students Help Fill Christmas Stockings for Less Fortunate Children of the Community
Generosity is the Catholic virtue of the month for December at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School. Mrs. Hoffman organized a beading group to make jewellery to help fill Christmas stockings for less fortunate children in the community. Beads were made using recycled magazines strips , Modge Podge and hollow Q-tip tubes. They were then strung on an elastic string along with colourful beads. Six students made necklaces and bracelets to donate to the Longlac Christmas Hamper fund. Their generosity, creativity and craftsmanship will help ensure that everyone in our community will enjoy a Happy Holiday season.
