MANITOUWADGE, ON – Friday, December 3rd the Kiwissa Ski Club’s first-ever Snow Dance Competition, long time wish of President Ed Hedderson, was held with the help of the Community Programming Department and Manitouwadge Volunteer Firefighters.

The Club offered would be weather-changers $150 CASH prize, $50 for the dancer(s) and $100 to be given to their choice charitable organization. Divided into Grade 8 and under and Grade 9 and over categories, the cold weather did not deter some fancy dancing meteorological-manipulaters.  In the end the Kiwissa Ski Club’s adult dance troup of  Hedderson, Linda Hedderson, Rob Scapinello and Carole Barnes took the prize, donating their winnings to the Manitouwadge Cancer Assistance Group.  After everyone had danced, some younger dancers took the stage to keep attendees entertained ‘for fun’ as everyone enjoyed hot dogs cooked over the campfire courtesy of the Kiwissa Ski Club and hot chocolate provided by the Volunteer Firefighters. Just in case the dancing didn’t help, township staff had the snow making equipment blowing flakes onto the practice hill.
