Superior-Greenstone DSB 2011 Inaugural Board Meeting and Elections of Officers

December 3, 2010

MARATHON, ON – The Superior-Greenstone District School Board held its 2011 Inaugural/Organizational and Regular Board Meeting.

The Director of Education Patti Pella declared the Board legally constituted as follows:

Terrace Bay/Schreiber Ward: (Elected) Laurie (Angel) Santerre
Nipigon Ward: (Elected) Bette Bartlett
Marathon Ward: (Acclaimed) Cindy Brown
Marathon Ward: (Acclaimed) Pauline (Pinky) McRae
Manitouwadge Ward: (Elected) Darlene Keenan
Greenstone Ward: (Elected) Fred Simonaitis
Greenstone Ward: (Elected) Mark Mannisto
Red Rock, Dorion, Hurkett Ward: (Acclaimed) Tina Simmons

First Nation Representative to the Board: (Appointed) Cindy Fisher of Pic River Heron Bay. (Fisher’s appointment to the Board was affected as a result of Ontario Regulation 462/97 and the guidelines therein provided. Mrs. Fisher begins her third term as the First Nation Representative to Superior-Greenstone DSB).

The election of Board officers followed with:

Education Committee Chair: (Acclaimed) Trustee Pinky McRae

The Board also has a complement of three Student Trustees elected by high school peers. Effective August 1, 2010 to July 31, 2011 student trustee seats were filled by:

Daniela Carlino of Lake Superior High School, and
Danielle Robinson of Marathon High School.

The Board of Trustees set its Regular Board Meeting schedule for 2011, this year opting for a return to rotating the Regular Board Meetings throughout the Board’s jurisdiction as follows:
