THUNDER BAY, ON – Sir Wilfred Laurier Golden Hawk, and former Lakehead Express Soccer Club (LEX) player, Kelsey Tikka has been named the 2010 Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) Rookie of the Year for Women’s Soccer. The Thunder Bay native was the defensive rock that helped her team capture the OUA Provincial Championship last weekend, securing Laurier’s place at the CIS National Championships taking place this weekend in Prince Edward Island.
Tikka is the first Golden Hawk to earn CIS rookie-of-the-year honours since the inception of the award in 1996. LEX would like to congratulate Kelsey on her magnificent rookie season and wish her and her LEX alumni teammate Amanda Mithrush in their bid for a National title this weekend.
