SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN TERRACE BAY ROBBERY

TERRACE BAY, ON – On November 13, 2010 at approximately 10:55 pm Schreiber Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a 911 call from a Terrace Bay resident reporting a robbery at a local business. An employee of the Imperial Bar and Motel called police after being confronted by a customer who was taking cash from the business.
Police stopped the suspect vehicle which was identified as a red Ford Taurus on Hwy 17, between Terrace Bay and Schreiber and the two male occupants of the vehicle were arrested. Officers searched the vehicle and weapons were located. The 32 year old male driver, Adil KABLI, of Brossard Quebec has been charged with Robbery with Violence, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, and Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code. The driver was further charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act and Driving Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available contrary to the Liquor License Act.
The 36 year old male passenger, Makram BEN ZAIED, of Montreal, Quebec has been charged with Robbery with Violence, Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, and Fail to Comply with an Undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code. The passenger was further charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act.
The two accused remain in custody in Thunder Bay. Their next court date is November 16, 2010.
