Statement By Ontario Premier McGuinty On Premier Danny Williams
November 25, 2010
I want to wish my colleague and friend Danny Williams all the best on his retirement from public life.
Through our work together over the years, I have come to know and admire Danny’s passion, pride and persistence.
Danny’s passion is public service. Though he has had ample success in the world of business, it is public service that draws him, excites him and energizes him. His province and our country are better, today, for that service.
Danny’s pride as a Newfoundlander is only exceeded by his Canadian pride. He has been a resolute champion for a strong Newfoundland and Labrador within a strong Confederation — a position that has strengthened both his province and our country.
And Danny’s persistence is legendary. Whether his cause was poverty reduction or growing a stronger economy, Danny simply did not quit. He has worked hard not only to achieve his own success, but to help all Newfoundlanders find opportunity.
I want to wish Danny all the best as he moves on to other challenges — and I want to thank him for all his good work on behalf of Newfoundland and Labrador, and Canada.
