St. Martin Students Compete Against 100’s in Thunder Bay
RED ROCK, ON – Tuesday October, 12th 2010 twelve students from St. Martin School travelled to St. Hilary School in Red Rock to compete in the Annual Cross Country Run. These students trained every day for over a month with Mrs. Chantal Olson and/or Mrs. Desjardins and their intense preparation and dedication to the sport awarded them several top place finishes. Ethan Olson placed FIRST place in the Senior Boys division with Neil Mattar running into a THIRD place finish, followed by Justin Larson in FOURTH and Karl Bouchard in NINTH. Julie Bouchard ran into a SECOND place standing (by a 5th of a second, in our minds she is FIRST) in the Senior Girls division with Shea-Lee following closely behind her. Calley Olson placed FIRST in the Junior Girls division with Breanne Woods, Jasmine Bonnema, and Olivia Szczepaniak also finishing strong. Vinni Speziale and Nick Tobin both competed and finished in the top 30 in the Junior Boys division.
THUNDER BAY, ON – Following the Annual Cross Country Run in Red Rock, 8 of the 12 students competed in the Annual Lakehead Elementary Schools Cross-Country Run. There were only two races held that day, a girls race followed by a boys race. All ages competed in the races and each was 3 km in length on a rugged terrain. A total of 200 girls and 200 boys competed and the students from St. Martin all finished strong, making us extremely proud. Calley placed 12th with a time of 13:17, followed by Julie and Shea-Lee with 14:30 and Olivia with 20:46. Ethan placed 9th with a time of 11:28, followed close behind by Neil at 12:05, Justin at 12:30, and Karl at 14:11.
Congratulations to all of the runners from St. Martin School! We are so proud of ALL of you!
