Promoting Economic Development In Dryden
McGuinty Government Helps Community Prepare For Future Investment
The community of Dryden is working to boost tourism, attract new investors and strengthen the local economy.
With support from the Northern Communities Investment Readiness (NCIR) program, the Dryden Development Corporation is:
- Conducting an inventory of cultural resources in the region, such as museums and galleries, to help identify opportunities to boost tourism;
- Establishing an underground energy distribution system that delivers heat to buildings from a central plant;
- Identifying the housing needs of prospective businesses within targeted sectors;
- Hosting investors to attract and secure business;
- Creating a coalition of local food providers to strengthen the local agricultural sector and identify opportunities to promote local foods.
These initiatives are part of the government’s five-year Open Ontario plan to create jobs and economic opportunities in Northern Ontario.

- The Ontario government is investing $49,375 in these initiatives through the NCIR program.
