The Boards of the Manitouwadge, McCausland and Wilson Memorial hospitals have given their approval for the hospitals to proceed with a joint operational review. The review, which is being funded by the North West LHIN, will examine the hospitals’ operations looking for ways to improve the quality of care for residents and patients of these communities.
A Steering Committee is being formed including representatives from each of the hospitals. The Committee will oversee the review, including selecting the consultant to conduct the review and to provide recommendations for coordinating hospital services across the communities that will improve access to care close to home. Selection of the consultant will take place over the next two months.
Residents from each community will be kept informed as the process unfolds.
The hospitals welcome the review and the opportunity to have an external person look at their practices, stating that “this is a collaborative process aimed at delivering system-level outcomes that will benefit our residents and patients”.
The project is expected to be completed by March 31, 2011.
