Fun with Fitness – Choices

You Choose, You have the Willpower
There is no such thing as sleeping off the pounds or taking a miracle pill that burns fat. Losing weight is about making the right choices, every single day, in a variety of different situations.
For instance, I had a lot of hands on in the kitchen this past weekend preparing for a social gathering, and I wanted nothing more than to gobble up all of the cheese that was staring me in the face but because I am in training for something that I want so bad, I decided against it. It helped that I had a bowl of cherry tomatoes and a glass of water hanging out with me. I would definitely tell anyone, if you are craving a cookie or a sweet, go ahead and have one, mind your portions though. Because of my own goals, and discipline, I choose to not have one in this situation.
While travelling, I love to eat or munch. I always bring a small cooler and fill it full crunchy vegetables, that way I can chow down on the whole trip on something nutritious and not spend extra money on junk.
After I return from grocery shopping, I take most vegetables, and fruit, cut them up and put them in bowls/containers in the fridge, so that when I need a quick fix, I open up the fridge and it is right there. I don’t have to make time to make something or cut something up at that time. I also, have bowls of fruit throughout the house, in occasion that I feel like munching.
Fun Activities
- walking 2 miles in 30 minutes
- aerobics for 20 minutes
- dancing for 15 minutes (I dance all day long, if you were in my home/office, you would lose 100 calories laughing at me)
- run a mile in 10 minutes
- jump rope for 15 minutes (I crank a fast song, forget what my feet are doing and just move to the beat)
- clean the house for 30 minutes to an hour (I get a ton of exercise with three boys to clean up after)
- jumping jacks for 10 minutes ( my FAVE!)
There is more to being fit than just going to the gym every day. The trick is to find the balance between your mind, body and spirit.
