4 ARRESTED AND $71,000.00 WORTH OF MARIHUANA SEIZED
THUNDER BAY, ON – On November 2, 2010 Drug Enforcement Unit Officers attended the 300 block of Cameron Street in Thunder Bay where they arrested Elias GANTH outside of a residence for Driving while Disqualified. At the time of his arrest Elias GANTH was found to be in possession of approximately half a pound of marihuana. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of 3 other individuals and the execution of a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant at the residence where Elias GANTH was originally arrested. Officers seized approximately 7 pounds of marihuana along with 195 dollars in Canadian currency. The total street value on the drugs seized is approximately $71,000.00.
Charged are:
- Elias GANTH (50 years of age) of Thunder Bay with;
- Possession of Marihuana for the Purposes of Trafficking
- Drive Motor Vehicle While Disqualified
- Breach of Recognizance
- Candice GANTH (49 year of age) of Thunder Bay with;
- Possession of Marihuana for the Purposes of Trafficking
- David GANTH (21 years of age) of Thunder Bay with;
- Possession of Marihuana for the Purposes of Trafficking
- Elizabeth GANTH (24 years of age) of Thunder Bay with;
- Possession of Marihuana for the Purposes of Trafficking
Elias GANTH was remanded into custody and will have a bail hearing on November 10, 2010. Candice GANTH, David GANTH and Elizabeth GANTH were released and will appear in Thunder Bay court on December 29, 2010.
The Combined Forces Organized Crime Unit consists of members from The O.P.P.- Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, The Thunder Bay Police Service, The R.C.M.P., The Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service and The Anishinabek Police Service.
