Red Rock Mayor Gary Nelson
RED ROCK, ON – Wednesday, October 20th, teens, council members and the Mayor and parents interested in reviving the once popular Teen Town met to discuss how they would move forward with the project. Teen Town was very popular decades ago and Mayor Gary Nelson, who feels it is important to offer Red Rock youth a place to gather other than on the streets, remembers frequenting as a teen himself and has many fond memories of dances and other special events they held there.
The teens in attendance committed to creating an executive that will seek out funding and resources to establish Teen Town though there is concern that, other than those attending from council, there were only two parents who were present at the brainstorming session as it is tantamount that parents support the initiative in order for it to succeed and flourish.
