McGuinty Government Continues To Strengthen Economic Ties

Premier Dalton McGuinty flew to China today to promote Ontario businesses and investment in the province. It is his third trade mission to China — one of the world’s fastest-growing economies.

McGuinty will be joined by Sandra Pupatello, Minister of Economic Development and Trade, and Michael Chan, Minister of Tourism and Culture. They will meet with Chinese business leaders, government officials and Canadian partners.

The mission begins Saturday in Shanghai where the Premier will spend three days promoting Ontario tourism and the province’s clean technology and green energy expertise. He will also be meeting with Canadian and Chinese financial services leaders.

On Tuesday he will travel to Nanjing where he will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Ontario’s relationship with Jiangsu province and sign cooperation agreements.

The Premier will then spend two days in Hong Kong where he will promote investment in Ontario and the province’s strength in financial services. He will also highlight Ontario’s colleges and universities as a prime destination for Chinese students.
