Ontarians will be seeing the benefits for years to come as the sounds of bulldozers, jackhammers and drills echoed from one corner of the province to another this summer.

Over 300 stimulus infrastructure projects were completed in the summer construction period from May to September, 2010. They ranged from airport upgrades in the Township of Armstrong, to road improvements in Vaughan.

The completed projects are part of a record investment of about $28 billion in infrastructure that the province plans to make over two years. This investment will help spur the economy, and create and support over 300,000 jobs in communities across the province.

The investment will mean that:

• Motorists and commuters can get around safely and efficiently with road and transit improvements
• Families can be confident of safe, clean drinking water when they turn on the tap, due to water infrastructure upgrades
• Children can play and keep fit with new and improved recreation facilities
• Students can learn in modern classrooms and on state-of-the-art equipment

Ontario is developing a new, 10-year infrastructure plan that will support the Open Ontario Plan to create jobs and new opportunities for growth.
