Manitouwadge Public School students at an early morning chess practice.
MANITOUWADGE, ON – Recently a very exciting Chess Tournament was held at Manitouwadge Public School. An impressive number of chess playing students have been coming out early each morning to hone their skills in front of the chess boards in the library and the practice paid off! All of the students who participated in the tournament, qualified to represent Manitouwadge at this weekend’s Northern Ontario Schools’ Regional Chess Championships in Thunder Bay (Saturday, October 23rd).
Congratulations to everyone for being such dedicated players and once again making a positive impact on yourselves and those around you.
Students who qualified to represent our community at the Regional Championship in Thunder Bay.
The ‘chess guy’ was really impressed with one young player, Tess Lendt who gave him a challenge and was the one who lasted the longest in a game against him – the expert!!!! Left is Tess with her winnings. right 'The Chess Guy".
