Manitouwadge Fire Chief Owen Cranney

MANITOUWADGE, ON – Thursday, October 7th, 2010 Manitouwadge Volunteer Fire Department held their Annual Fire Safety Week Open House; North Superior Victim Services and other service organizations were also in attendance to provide information materials and answer questions. The volunteer firefighters spoke with residents, gave tours of the various equipment/vehicles and did demonstrations, including one with the jaws of life, for those in attendance. 

There were free draws and refreshments and Fire Chief Owen Cranney took full advantage of the opportuntiy to remind people of the importance of fire safety and prevention “People should test their smoke alarms monthly and replace them every ten years” said Cranney adding that “Our home is where we feel safest yet opening weekend of Fire Safety week there were four tragic deaths due to fires which occured in family homes”.
