Made-In-The-North Film Screening At Cinefest In Sudbury
McGuinty Government Supporting Expansion Of Film Production Industry In The North
Filmgoers attending this year’s Cinefest Film Festival have the opportunity to view a new film shot in Northern Ontario last fall and will be screened during the festival’s closing weekend.
Supported by the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), the Film Works drama Oliver Sherman will be among the festival features showing on Saturday, September 25 at the Greater Sudbury Cineplex. The film was shot principally in the North Bay area as well as in other various Northern Ontario locations.
The NOHFC is again an important sponsor of Cinefest, one of Canada’s most prestigious film festivals, now celebrating its 22nd season.

- The NOHFC has provided $1 million to this project through its Emerging Technology Program.
- Oliver Sherman is a psychological thriller based on a Rachel Ingalls story and adapted to screenplay by Ryan Redford. A war veteran visits a soldier who saved his life and disrupts the new family environment that his former colleague has worked hard to establish in a small rural town.
- The NOHFC is a sponsor of Cinefest’s Northern Connections which includes screenings, panel discussions, one-on-one critiques for aspiring northern filmmakers, and other information sessions.
