DRIVER CHARGED FOR RACING ON A HIGHWAY
MANITOUWADGE, ON. –On October 24, 2010 at approximately 11:50pm while patrolling Highway 17 near the junction of Highway 614, an officer with the Manitouwadge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was captured on radar travelling in excess of 50 km/h over the posted 90km/hr speed limit.
The vehicle, a 2009 Ford F350 Super Duty pickup truck was stopped by police and later impounded for 7 days.
The driver, a 29 year old male from Penticton, BC, was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to Sec 172 (1) of the Highway Traffic Act and is to appear in Marathon Court December 14, 2010.
