Bridges Dedicated To Fallen Police Officers
McGuinty Government Pays Tribute To Three OPP Constables
Three Niagara bridges have been officially dedicated in memory of fallen Ontario Provincial Police officers. All three officers were killed while on duty on the Queen Elizabeth Way.
- Constable John Gregovski died on January 4, 1989
- Constable Michael Gula died on April 2, 1996
- Constable Charles Mercier died on September 30, 1999
Memorial signs with each officer’s name and police service crest have been posted at the end of each bridge to honour them. Since 2002, Ontario has dedicated bridges and other highway structures across the province in memory of fallen police officers.
