THUNDER BAY, ON – On Monday October 4, 2010 three adult males from the Aroland/Greenstone area were arrested and charged with Theft Under $5000.00 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. The arrests were made on Hammond Avenue in the City of Thunder Bay and were a result of an investigation conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and CP Police due to an increase in copper wire thefts in the region.
The investigation resulted in the recovery of over 1400 lbs of copper wire stolen from the CP Rail line east of Thunder Bay. Also recovered was approximately $4000.00 cash and the pickup truck used to transport the copper wire.
A 60-year-old male from Aroland, a 33-year-old male from Aroland and a 41-year-old male from Geraldton are all to appear in Thunder Bay court November 10, 2010.
The investigation is continuing.
