In the fall of 2009, Ministry of Natural Resources conservation officers received a complaint about the practices of a licence issuer in St. Marys. Officers conducted a detailed audit of the 2009 hunting licences sold at the West End Variety. They found numerous violations and failures to comply with the manual of instruction for licence issuers. The manual is provided by the Ministry of Natural Resources to ensure licences are issued according to policy and in a legal manner.
Justice of the Peace Robert Gay heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Stratford, on September 9, 2010.
