This Week at MPS
MANITOUWADGE PUBLIC SCHOOL NEWSFLASH!
Our grades 4 – 7 students were certainly given an exciting treat this week. They were invited by the North Superior Forest Community and Pukaskwa National Park to attend a full day of activities at Pukaskwa National Park.
Everyone boarded the bus at the school first thing in the morning and headed to Pukaskwa Park where they were involved in four activities throughout the day. They were given a nature walk, an information session on types of trees and how to identify specifics about them, a first Nations heritage workshop and how to make a medicinal cedar tea. In this picture you’ll see some of our students ‘enjoying??’ a sip of the tea – well, maybe not being enjoyed by everyone! The last session of the day was an insight into trapping and what the animals are used for when they are trapped.
Everyone was treated to a BBQ lunch and a goodie bag to bring home. The quiet students who returned to the school at the end of the day was a good indication that they were pooped out and well informed!
