ULTRA-LIGHT PLANE CRASH – NO INJURIES
(HORNEPAYNE, ON.) – On Monday September 6, 2010 at approximately 10:05 am a small Ultra Light Kitfox Model 1V aircraft was enroute from Carey Lake to KABI LAKE in FARQUAR TWP just east of HORNEPAYNE. The craft developed apparent engine problems and as a result the pilot, Mario PROULX age 46 years of HEARST, Ontario was forced to crash-land in a wooded area near the KABI RIVER.
Although the craft was severely damaged, the pilot was not injured and walked approximately 1 kilometre to the CN rail tracks and was able to call by satellite phone for assistance. He was subsequently picked up by a passing train and transported to HORNEPAYNE. Transport Canada was notified and is presently investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident.
