Manitouwadge Student Receives Scholarship Award

Manitouwadge High School Graduate Kurtis Jung

Kurtis Jung, a student at Manitouwadge High School, has received a 2010 Entrance W. Garfield Weston Award worth up to $40,000. Nationally, only 46 W. Garfield Weston Awards were granted to well-rounded students who are passionate about their fields of study, community-minded and truly interested in becoming involved and making a difference in society.  Kurtis enjoys giving back to his community by volunteering at the Manitouwadge General  Hospital, refereeing for the Manitouwadge Minor Hockey Association and assisting with the Manitouwadge Figure Skating Club’s Annual Carnival.   As Vice President and Treasurer of the Manitouwadge High School Athletic Association, Kurtis helped plan, promote and manage a variety of sporting and fundraising events for the school and community.  With a keen interest on how things work, he is pursuing an education in instrumentation engineering.
