‘NEW’ Grand Opening & BBQ
One-Stop-Shop for Job Seekers & Potential Employers

MARATHON, ON – Thursday, September 2nd business owners, community leaders, dignitaries and staff gathered at the new Northwest Employment Works (NEW) office to celebrate its Grand Opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony and barbecue.
Master of ceremonies for the occasion, Lucie Lehoux, welcomed those in attendance and introduced dignitaries who spoke. Jeannie Allerton, President of the Marathon and District Chamber of Commerce read congratulatory letters on behalf of the Hon. Michael Gravelle, Minister of Northern Development Mines and Forest and Thunder Bay-Superior North MP Bruce Hyers before sharing encouragement, praise and congratulations behalf of the commerce.
Others who spoke, whose messages are available to view below, were:
- Suzanne Lafrance, Adjustment Advisor, North Region Ministry of Training, College and Universities;
- Roger Soukey, Marathon Councilman and Employer representing Barrick Gold.
Jason Ozbolt, Manager of Northwest Employment Works shared his enthusiasm for the new office which brings together several services which were previously independent making it difficult for both job seekers and their potential employers to access all the services now available together at NEW as a ‘one-stop-shop’; Ozbolt graciously spoke with OntarioNewsNorth.com following the ceremony, his interview is also available below.
