Team Canada to Play Cuba for Bronze
World Junior Baseball Bronze and Gold Medal Match-ups Announced
THUNDER BAY, ON – After 42 tournament games at the 2010 IBAF World Junior Baseball Championship, the action will wrap up on Sunday afternoon featuring the bronze and gold medal games at Port Arthur Stadium.
Team Canada, 5-2, will play for the bronze medal at noon against Cuba, 4-3. Canada suffered a heartbreaking 3-1 loss in Saturday night’s semi-final game to Chinese Taipei and will look to win their first medal at the World Junior Championship since earning bronze at the 2006 event in Cuba. The gold medal match-up will feature Australia, 5-2, against Chinese Taipei, 6-1, at 4:30 pm at Port Arthur Stadium. Australia defeated Cuba 2-1 this afternoon in semi-final action and will compete for their very first gold medal at this event.

7th Place Game #43 – Italy v. South Korea, 9:00 am at Baseball Central 2
5th Place Game #44 – Netherlands v. USA, 9:30 am at Baseball Central
Bronze Medal Game #45 – Canada v. Cuba, noon at Port Arthur Stadium
Gold Medal Game #46 – Chinese Taipei v. Australia, 4:30 pm at Port Arthur Stadium
Tournament action wrapped up on Saturday for four teams as Venezuela defeated Panama 7-5 at Port Arthur Stadium to finish in 9th place, while France captured the nation’s first ever win in World Junior Championship play with an 8-5 win over the Czech Republic to finish in 11th place.
