1st Annual SunFest Day 2
What a good sport! The ladies get a push towards the shore.
MANITOUWADGE, ON – Sunday, August 8th, SunFest splashing continued as would-be captains and spectators gathered at the Lion’s Beach for Carboard Box Boat Races.
The colourfully crafted boats, which teams designed and created themselves, lined up to be judged; SunFest oranizer Shawna Patterson, directed the judging while spectators predicted which boats would float best or race fastest. The title of Most Creative Boat was awarded to Spencer Reukl, as was a cash prize for his efforts.
Racers competed in one of two categories; 6 – 12 years of age or 13 yrs and up. After all the children had raced the adults boarded their ships, some now quite waterlogged, for one final race.
FINAL RACE RESULTS
The cardboard boat races were 100% Cashback, distributed among top winners in each category as follows:
6-12 yrs old
- 1st Place Spencer Reukl
- 2nd Place Davey Gillman & Emma Eagle
13 yrs old +
- 1st Place ‘Ace of Spades’ Daniel Gillman & Liam Aguiar
- 2nd Place Anna Marie Gillman & Danielle Eagle
