Open Ontario Plan Improving Health Care, Creating Jobs
Families in the Sudbury area have better access to health care with the new Sudbury Regional Hospital that officially opens today.
Ontario invested $174.6 million in the project. The hospital brings together all acute and rehabilitation services from three sites into one location. It was completed on time and on budget in December 2009.
The project gave a boost to the local economy and created jobs, with 150 workers on site during the peak of construction. The hospital includes new emergency facilities, operating rooms, medical equipment, dialysis machines, expanded cardiac care and enhanced services for physiotherapy, respiratory and speech therapy.
As part of the Open Ontario Plan, the government is working to continue to provide the best possible health care and become a leader in health care.
