Leah Morris, a community builder and passionate advocate for literacy in the Hamilton area, has been awarded the Ontario 2010 Council of the Federation Literacy Award.

Premier Dalton McGuinty honoured Ms. Morris for her leadership and dedication to helping adults improve their reading and writing skills. She is executive director of the Adult Basic Education Association in Hamilton, which has been promoting and supporting lifelong learning in the area since 1983.

By 2020, about 70 per cent of new jobs are expected to require post-secondary education and training. Supporting strong literacy skills to develop a skilled workforce and raise our quality of life is part of the government’s Open Ontario Plan.
