East Fire Region

One new fire was confirmed in the East Fire Region on Wednesday, August 11.
Sudbury 148, north of Sudbury near Athlone Lake, is under control at 0.5 hectares. There are no issues anticipated.
So far today, August 12, there has been one confirmed fire. North Bay 90, near Lake Temagami, is under control at 0.5 hectares.
Ontario now has 286 fire personnel in British Columbia in addition to 41 in Saskatchewan for a total of 327 Ontario fire personnel out of province. This includes FireRanger crews, Incident Management Teams, fire specialists and overhead staff. Ontario is also providing equipment to the western provinces such as pumps, fire hoses and sprinkler systems for values protection.
Twenty fire personnel from the West Fire Region are scheduled to return from Saskatchewan today, August 12.
Requests for assistance for other provinces and territories are coordinated through the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre (CIFFC) in Winnipeg. Sufficient fire fighting personnel, equipment and aircraft remain in Ontario to meet current and forecast fire demands here. Ontario resources are stationed at several locations in British Columbia’s interior.

Residents are reminded that if found responsible for a forest fire, they can be charged under the Forest Fires Prevention Act and/or be liable for the costs of suppressing the fire. This cost can easily run into the tens of thousands of dollars.
310-FIRE (3473) is the new, toll-free emergency forest fire reporting phone number across northern Ontario. The number will operate north of the French and Mattawa Rivers.
West Fire Region

It was a very quiet day in northwestern Ontario. No new fires have been reported in the last 24hrs. The forest fire hazard is low across the board.
There are currently four fires being monitored in the region, all of which are in the extreme Far North.
Crews and overhead staff returned safely from northern Saskatchewan today. All personnel will have a chance to go home and recycle their gear before returning to work.
All personnel and equipment being utilized in British Columbia continue to march forward and make progress on large fires and new starts. More resources will be deployed as requested.
