Severe Thunderstorm Warning
Issued at 5:35 PM EDT Tuesday 27 July 2010
Summary
Weather radar indicates a severe thunderstorm 70 km to the northwest of Terrace Bay. It is capable of producing large hail and brief wind gusts to 90 km/h. An isolated brief tornado is also possible. Motion is to the southeast around 30 km/h. This is a warning that severe thunderstorms are imminent or occurring in these regions. Remember some severe thunderstorms produce tornadoes..Listen for updated warnings. Emergency management Ontario recommends taking cover immediately when threatening weather approaches.

Scattered strong thunderstorms are developing in Northwestern Ontario ahead of a cold front which will cross the region this evening. A few of these storms may become severe with conditions becoming more favourable for isolated tornadoes. Large hail to 2 centimetres and brief wind gusts to 90 km/h are also possible. The threat is expected to end a little later this evening as the cold front passes through.
