Schreiberites Out to Make a Deal
Schreiber Residents Gather To Make A Deal
by Karina Hunter
SCHREIBER, ON – Thursday, July 15th more than 550 people gathered at the Schreiber Community Arena for the 125th Anniversary Edition of Schreiber’s Deal Or No Deal. For the fourth consecutive year, Al Cresswell was host for the evening and kept things moving throughout the evening.
Game #1 Saw Jimmy Dugan take the banker’s very 1st offer of $195 just to learn afterwards that the case he had chosen at the beginning of the game was the big $1,125 prize. Dugan took it in stride however and seemed to glad to just have participated and have had fun.
Schreiber Mayor Madge Richardson was in attendance and took the opportunity presented her by Host Al Cresswell to address those in attendance, thank everyone for their support and participation and encourage everyone to continue attending the remaining 125th events.
Game #2 Dominic Filane and his boxing champions took the place of a few of the briefcase models which of course was a big hit with the audience. Jill McQuaig played the game well, turning down 4 offers from the banker, pushing for a bigger cash out and finally taking the 5th offer of $65.
Game #3, Joey Speziale took the contestants seat; playing hard and taking plenty of advice from his friends. The final offer Speziale received from the banker was for $350 which would have been a great deal as his case held only $1!
Game #4 Julio Leli from Woodstock Ontario was put in the hot seat. Leli conferenced with his team on several occasions, turning down initial offers of $155 and $140 but finally selling his case for the banker’s final offer of $300 not an awful deal though his case held $750.
Throughout the games, Katimavik volunteers kept people up to date on the available cash remaining as games progressed.
