Premier Dalton McGuinty welcomed Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh to Ontario last night.
Over the next three days, Her Majesty and His Royal Highness will witness the province’s innovative know-how, celebrate its culture and feel the community spirit of Ontarians. They will visit and attend many events throughout Toronto and in Kitchener-Waterloo including:
- The Cathedral Church of St. James, Toronto
- The Queen’s Plate at Woodbine Racetrack, Toronto
- Research in Motion, Waterloo
- Queen’s Park, Toronto
This is the final leg of the 2010 Royal Tour, which saw The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh also tour Nova Scotia and Manitoba.
The Royal Tour gives Ontario the opportunity to highlight homegrown innovations, like the BlackBerry, and the talents of our diverse population. The five-year Open Ontario Plan builds on the province’s strengths.
