Ride Checks Result in Licence Suspensions

RIDE CHECKS RESULT IN THREE DAY DRIVERS LICENCE SUSPENSION FOR TWO MEN IN MARATHON
(MARATHON, ON.) –On July 15, 2010 at approximately 11:30 pm the Marathon OPP conducted a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) initiative in Marathon in the area of YAWKEY Street and Howe Street.
23 vehicles were checked during the initiative resulting in two motorists having their drivers licence seized and being issued three day suspensions due to registering an “alert” on the roadside alcohol screening device.
An “alert” is registered and a three day suspension issued when a motor vehicle driver has a blood alcohol limit between 50mg and 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood.
Everyone is reminded that no level of intoxication is safe if operating a motor vehicle including boats and all terrain vehicles.
